A recipient of numerous awards, Mr. Landis is a published writer and has been a featured speaker at numerous industry conferences, as well as a guest lecturer at Stanford University, the University of California-Berkeley, University of San Francisco and Golden Gate University.
Prior to launching LCI, Mr. Landis served as PR/Community Relations Director for KPIX TV, the San Francisco CBS affiliate. While there, he was part of a team that won the station two national Emmy Awards and a Peabody Award. Before his work in television, Mr. Landis was PR Director of the San Francisco Symphony, where he helped open San Francisco’s Davies Symphony Hall.
In his volunteer capacities, Mr. Landis serves on the advisory boards of Project Open Hand (serving meals to people with life threatening diseases) and ODC, San Francisco’s modern dance company, theatre and school. He also serves on the Marketing Committees of the San Francisco Symphony and the San Francisco Ballet.
Like every other PR professional, Mr. Landis studied piano in college (at Northwestern University in Chicago) and his first jobs included teaching piano to neighborhood children (at the ripe old age of 12).
Mr. Landis lives in San Francisco with his husband, Sean Dowdall (General Manager at LCI) and in his spare time enjoys music, theatre, travel, hiking, skiing, hanging out with his dogs Gaston & Alphonse and partaking in the culinary delights of San Francisco. Sean Dowdall - General Manager and Chief Marketing Officer
Sean Dowdall is a 28-year financial services marketing, sales, and public relations executive specializing in the innovation, creation, and successful delivery to market of strategic initiatives, ongoing capabilities, and fully-integrated campaigns. He provides strategic counsel to LCI clients, oversees the marketing and digital practice areas, and supervises financial management for the agency.
The son of a banker, he started his banking career at his father’s local bank on the Flathead Indian Reservation in his hometown of Polson, Montana. Mr. Dowdall most recently was Chief Marketing Officer for Rabobank, N.A., the American retail bank affiliate of the Dutch financial services giant, the Rabobank Group. During his 4 year tenure, the bank doubled in size through three acquisitions and double-digit organic growth of its deposit and business lending portfolios, it received the “Highest in Customer Satisfaction with Retail Banking in California” from J.D. Power and Associates for three years in a row and became known as a leader in agriculture financing and community involvement. At Rabobank, he built and expanded the digital channel management, marketing, public relations, and product development teams. He was a key spokesperson for the bank and developed a leading public relations capability focusing on the agriculture industry and hyper-local branding. Prior to Rabobank, Sean headed a variety of marketing, sales, public relations, and digital/Internet functions at Wells Fargo Bank and Bank of America covering consumer, wealth, and small business segments. He has led successful public relations campaigns to launch the Loans.com brand and new products. Also, Sean led strategic media partnerships with Meredith Publishing, Sunset Magazine, and Yahoo. He graduated from Santa Clara University (BS in Finance) and the Pacific Coast Banking School at the University of Washington (Seattle, WA). He also studied in Tokyo, Japan during his junior year of college. He served as President of the Board of ODC San Francisco for 5 years during 2 $10 million capital campaigns to expand the ODC campus supporting more than 200 dance classes every week and an active 200-seat performing arts theatre. David Cumpston - Director
David Cumpston brings more than 15 years of public relations experience to his role as a Director at Landis Communications Inc. (LCI), where he is responsible for directing a number of high-profile clients in a variety of industries including: retail, healthcare, real estate, hospitality, food/beverage, consumer technology, and financial services, among others.
During his seven-year tenure with Allison+Partners, David managed day-to-day activities and played senior roles on a number of large and small consumer and consumer tech brands, including: Orbitz Worldwide; Best Western International; Kimpton Hotels; Joie de Vivre Hospitality; travel search engines Fly.com and Cheapflights.com; ARAMARK Parks & Destinations (for Mesa Verde National Park); BranchOut (a LinkedIn competitor); Pageonce (now Check.com, a Mint.com competitor); Mozilla; Pearl.com (formerly JustAnswer); Coveroo and Sustenex probiotics (creator of the first probiotic gummy bear). Prior to joining Allison+Partners, David worked for Manning Selvage & Lee, where he managed day-to-day responsibilities for travel search engine SideStep and conducted strategic media relations outreach for educational toy manufacturer LeapFrog Enterprises, videogame maker Midway Home Entertainment and Philips Electronics. At MS&L, David specialized in proactive media and analyst relations which included the development and execution of media tours, press events, quarterly PR planning meetings, and a variety of client-related written materials. Previous to MS&L, David began his public relations career with Access Communications, where he played an instrumental role in the most successful consumer product launch of 1999, the Sega Dreamcast videogame console. These efforts earned him and his team international accolades from organizations including The Communicator, SABRE, PR Week, Gold Quill, Mercury, and PRSA’s Compass Awards. Other clients at Access included AutoTrader.com, Valpak.com, and Horizon Organic. David began his professional career with Starwood Hotels and Resorts, where he was a specialist with The Luxury Collection, the company’s elite division of upscale, unique accommodations. His group was responsible for anticipating and fulfilling a broad range of requests by some of the world’s most discerning travelers. David graduated cum laude from Texas State University-San Marcos with a bachelor of arts in mass communication. An avid world traveler, David has visited more than 40 countries across five continents, and spends the rest of his free time keeping up with current events, experiencing new restaurants, and enjoying the myriad of indoor and outdoor activities that the Bay Area has to offer.

Brianne Murphy Miller - Business Development Manager
Brianne Murphy Miller has spent close to 25 years in communications and marketing. As Senior Consultant and Business Development Manager at LCI, she is responsible for strategic counsel to a myriad of LCI clients, as well as overseeing all sales, marketing and business development needs for the agency. Prior to her work with LCI, Ms. Miller was VP Communications for TeeBeeDee, an online social network for baby boomers. The launch of that company was covered by media internationally and lauded as one of the hottest new tech start-ups of the year. Previously, she ran her own consultancy, B. & Company, for ten years, serving clients in the lifestyle, media, and tech industries. Ms. Miller also was Director of Public Relations for Kamer~Singer & Associates, a full service public relations and public affairs agency. There, she was responsible for the travel and hospitality division and new business. Her first foray into consumer technology was as Vice President of Marketing for Ifusion.com, which developed push technology software. She joined Ifusion.com after more than five years as Communications Director at Sunset Publishing Corporation. In that capacity, Ms. Miller was in charge of all public relations programs for the largest publishing company in the Western United States. She also helped launch their new media division, consumer expo programs and oversaw all trade show publicity efforts. Before migrating West, Ms. Miller worked in her native New York City for fashion designer Adrienne Vittadini and at GLAMOUR Magazine. She started her career at advertising agency Wells, Rich, Greene Inc., where she was part of the team that began the resurgent popularity of the Senior PGA Tour with client Liberty Mutual Insurance. Ms. Miller is a graduate of Fairfield University and holds a B.A. in English and Communications. She is a former board member of the San Francisco Public Relations Roundtable, has been guest lecturer at University of California Berkeley, and is involved in numerous local charities.
